Biking Asia

Say 'yes' more often than you say 'no.'

And so, when the dream to bike through SE Asia billowed our sails, Gillian and I said 'yes', hoisted anchors and embarked with nothing more than two bicycles, a tent and a map to cover a 10,000km journey from Singapore to Hong Kong.

'To discover new horisons, one has to lose sight of the familiar shore.'

And so here we are in London, in the doldrums inbetween having left the comforting routine of our lives in South Africa and not yet having left on our biking epic through Asia. The waiting game is a killer - time and space enough to wonder about life and just how transient everything is.

We went for a long walk today in the cool deep of the Epping Forest in the middle of Leytonstone and revelled in the muggy English summer heat. Three more days of having long hair and of worrying about the brutal cost of living in the UK, three more days before we set sail for freedom.
